The PTQ-15-07692 project closes its first year successfully!

The project PTQ-15-07692, funded by the Spanish Government’s Torres Quevedo grant, has successfully completed its first year.

The project, entitled “Study of performance optimization of WiFi wireless networks in high user density environments by applying blind interference cancellation techniques in MU-MIMO systems”, aims to study and implement methods to improve interference mitigation in WiFi environments, focusing on 802.11ac and 802.11ax standards.

To this end, in this first year we have studied in depth the recent advances in the state-of-the-art regarding machine learning and signal processing techniques for interference cancellation, as well as the new 802.11 standards (trade name WiFi).

In addition, a simulation environment has been developed to test algorithms, implementing key features of the physical and MAC layers of the standard, including MIMO, OFDM, frame injection and multipath propagation, among other characteristics.

During the second year, the chosen algorithms will be simulated and real implementation in a real laboratory prototype using Software-Defined Radios (SDRs) will be explored.
